S.E.
Taylor S.E. Taylor was born and
raised in Texas, but has subsequently lived in
Arizona, Illinois, and California. He’s been an
antiques dealer for many years which is
reflected in his love of not only antiques, but
also history -- especially Hollywood history and
stories about the movies from the Golden Age. He
admits that he’s an overly-enthusiastic
collector with far too many movies in his
library, and he freely confesses that he
couldn’t possibly live long enough to watch them
all! He lives happily (sometimes) with his six
cats, who allow him to oversee their care.
LAVENDER BOYS is not really his first novel.
While in graduate school, he convinced one of
his professors to let his literature class write
a novel together, each student contributing
chapters to the book instead of doing a research
paper. As a result, Taylor got the formidable
task of taking everyone’s chapters and rewriting
them to make the book seem like it was written
by one author. The professor’s plan was to
submit the book for publication, but, sadly,
that didn’t happen, and the book remains a
nostalgic memory for the class members. Taylor
laughingly says that the project was a lot more
work than a paper would have been.
