Contest

This one is for all those who are serving our country but cant be honest about their orientation. I challenge the readers to come up with a cadence G/L servicemen could sing in a truly free world. (Cadence =song sung while marching or running) But this time lets give these often bawdy and violent stories a strong homosexual back..bone.

I am looking for original work and might even create an audio file for the winning cadence. There are numerous references online to cadences old and new. Just think about starting with the basic marching rhythm and let it grow from there: left ...left...leftrightleft...left...left...leftright...left...I know a girl in Jacksonville she want but her brother will...left...left... Hope you get the idea.

Give us the best most complete cadence focused on our theme and win a $10.00 gift certificate!

Email your cadence to webzine@torquerepress.com today!

Winner will be announced in the next issue.

Movie of the Month

This month's movie is Lost Boys. OK not so obscure and the homosexual subtext is far more like text/text in this great 1987 classic vampire meets punk/goth popcorn chewing flick. The young eye candy appropriately named Star who carries around the young vamp Laddie is more a tool to lure Michael in a fashion he is accustomed to into a world turned upside down...in more ways than one. Kiether Sutherland appears to be the head of a band of rough and tumble punks with a hideout that is much more like 1960's grotto.

The situation comes to a sharpened point soon enough as Michael wakes up after a night of debauchery to eventually discover more about himself. Bringing a whole new meaning to coming out. Not wanting to give too much away if you have not happen to have seen this movie gem I will keep it brief. The visual cues and life of apparently real freedom of this vampire gang is enough to inspire envy if not arousal in the staunchest conservative heteromale.

Potential pairings in this film could make a calculator sit up and take notice. Making you wish that the film had stuck to an adult crowd and skipped out on the Frog brothers and little Sam in order to entertain far less of the fade to black audience. The 80's clothing and big hair heralds the days of Whitesnake, Van Halen, and Motely Crue with a little David Bowie and Billy Idol mixed in topped with enough Culture Club to keep you guessing what happened when the lights went out. I am hearing plot bunnies scurrying and muses whispering now...

Please submit your movie reviews for potential publication. We are looking for movies with GLBT subtext or text/text. No cheating with porn titles these have to be mainstream or indy films with characters that might be playing for the home team if you know what I mean.
