Taar is a man on the run for no bigger crime than loving other men. Far in the future, the world has changed to something darker and more derelict. Yet Taar’s capture and subsequent exile to the forest-covered planet of Tansa turns out to be the best thing that ever happened to him.
In the holding cells he meets Bror, who he feels akin to right away. Within days they are herded onto the transport vessel where they are put into stasis. Two years later they arrive on Tansa, where they create an idyllic life together. Tansa's not completely uninhabited, though, and something has been observing the men in the new village, something dangerous in more ways than one. Something that could very well test the love Taar and Bror have for each other.

The twin moons of Tansa cast a powdery light over the jungle surrounding the new village of Aden. A light breeze spiraled down through the canopy to cool the naked bodies sleeping below. The nocturnal sounds of chirping insects and of hunting jaguars were conspicuous by their absence; silenced by a solitary figure moving with preternatural speed through the darkness towards the village. Lured by the smell of living flesh it hovered at the edge of the small clearing, sniffing the air. Its heartbeat grew rapid at the scent of blood; saliva spilled from between its fangs. But the first rays of the morning sun had begun to steal over the horizon. It would have to wait until darkness once again claimed the land; though waiting was a skill it excelled at.

Taar lay awake listening to the sound of his partner breathing. A gentle smile rested on his lips as he watched Bror’s thickly-haired chest rising and falling, his erection twitching like a dog eager to be free of the leash.
There were times he wished he’d never been transported through the stars to this paradise. As if he’d had any say in the matter. He was a manlover and not permitted to live amongst the population of the neighboring planets. It would have been so easy to live a life of deception on one of the other worlds, but then he would never have found Bror.
He leaned over and kissed Bror’s whiskery cheek. The sensation of bristles beneath the soft cushions of his lips, the salty taste of perspiration, and the familiar scent of his lover’s body assured him that there could have been no other life for him. Again he pressed his lips to Bror’s cheek before sliding out of bed. |
