Noah Kingston and Sawyer Shaw from the Apples & Gin
series adore their friend David. He's been a good friend to them for
decades, he's directing one of Sawyer's videos, he'll be the best man at
their wedding, and they want to make him as happy as they can in return.
They're devoted to each other, but is there room in their relationship for
one more?

"Thank God," David said. "People keep trying to set
me up and it never works out. It's like everybody wants David Campbell
the actor and nobody wants to know the guy named Dave."
"Nobody calls you Dave," Noah said as he took David's hand. He tugged
David out of the kitchen to the sofa and kept his arms around David as
they slumped together against the cushions and Sawyer stretched out
alongside them. It made Noah itch to get out his camera, capture this
tangle of long, denim-clad limbs -- some other night.
"It's the meaning of it," David said. "I want somebody who'll make fun
of me. I want somebody to take care of, the way you two take care of
each other. I want somebody who knows me," he said softly, all teasing
gone from his voice. "There are so few people who really know me."
"We know you," Sawyer whispered.
Noah took David's hand. David laid his other hand over them, and made a
soft little chuckle when Noah leaned over and kissed him. "Your fiancé
is right there," he murmured.
"Yeah, I know," Noah said and kissed him again, gentle and careful. He
heard the rustle of Sawyer moving closer and felt Sawyer's hand in his
hair, down his neck to his shoulder.
"Guys?" David said as Noah pulled away. "I'm very confused right now."
"Come to bed with us," Noah said and Sawyer stroked David's cheek. "I
know it's not going to solve everything--"
"But we've been talking about it," Sawyer interjected, "and we think --
that is, we want -- we think we'd be good for you." |
