When Toby Archer’s marriage falls apart, he takes up flipping houses to fill some of the void left in his life. The first time that contractor Ven Parrish works for him, Toby notices the fact that Ven is gorgeous, but what really catches Toby’s attention is Ven’s work ethic. Toby isn’t going to pass up the chance to hire Ven again; it’s just good business sense.

The more time they spend together, the harder it is to deny their attraction to each other. Toby is a lawyer with an upper class lifestyle, and Ven is a working man from a family still scraping by. What they have in common, especially a commitment to family, does more to keep them apart than bring them together. Still, Toby and Ven have sense enough to know when something is worth the work, and neither is afraid to get hot and dirty to get the job done, especially when the finished product might be a happy ending for everyone.

Renovations I: Framework
includes the following stories:

Renovations 1: Flipping Out
Renovations 2: Playing House
Renovations: Making Time

“Ven’s in the back, Mr. Archer.” Cake came lumbering in from the kitchen, grinning. “He’s puttin’ the last coat on the deck. Can I help you?” The big man was grubby from working in the yard, but he had his boots off to keep from tracking mud on Toby’s new hardwood floors.

“Yeah, Cake, that’d be great,” Toby said, handing over the boxes of pizza.

“Thanks. You want to help me figure out where to put these, so everybody can get some?” There were voices upstairs that sounded like Candy and Tommy. Good, that meant the crew hadn’t taken off yet.

“Sure. We can eat in the kitchen. We put a nice table in there.” Cake took the pizza and turned toward the stairs. “Hey, guys!” he bellowed. “Food!”

Toby followed him into the kitchen to put down the beer. “You did a great job with the front yard,” he said. “It looks really good.”

“Thanks.” Cake’s grin lit up his whole face. “Ven says I’m getting good. I remember a lot of plant names now.”

Ven came in from the back, sleek and sweaty and breathless. “Did I hear someone say food?”

“Boots off,” Cake ordered, turning around to glare at Ven. Ven held up his boots and gave Cake an innocent look. “He’s an offender,” Cake told Toby solemnly.

“I believe it,” Toby said, nodding seriously. He glanced over at Ven again, thinking about dragging him off to a closet somewhere to lick all that sleek, shiny skin.

“You have to keep an eye on him,” Cake said sternly. “Even if he’s the boss.”
