Swimmer Mike Gauliet and coach Jessy Turner are back in this second book in the Personal Best series! Mike is moving up in the elite ranks of the American swim team, despite his repetitive stress injuries. He’s hiding his pain from Jessy, not wanting to give in to it or let his coach down, and by the time he gets treatment, it’s almost too late.

Jessy helps Mike recover, both in an out of bed, and their need for each other grows as quickly as Mike’s career. They’re scorching hot and ready to go to the top competitions when another injury forces Mike to the sidelines. Jessy thinks this one is no accident, and Mike has to work hard to recover the lost ground. Jessy takes Mike away from the hustle and bustle of the training center, living on the coast while the two of them struggle with adversity.

Mike gets back into competition form and his success is also Jessy’s. Can they keep everything together and keep their relationship from getting in the way of Mike’s Personal Best?

Review

Kiernan Kelly, author of Riding Heartbreak Road, writes: Mike’s a swimmer, and he’s been training hard, winning meet after meet, pushing himself to his limits and beyond in his quest for the gold. His coach, Jessy, has been there right beside him all the way, helping Mike focus on the wall, keeping him on track, making sure Mike is caffeine-free and getting all the hottest, steamiest sex he can stand.

Their hard work and determination is paying off as the All-American approaches, and with it Mike’s chance to earn a place in the Olympic trials. The gold is finally within their reach, but Mike’s hardheadedness nearly spells disaster when he withholds vital information from his coach, and a run-in with a jealous fellow swimmer almost costs Mike his chance at the gold.

Can Mike and Jessy overcome near-tragedy and come out winners as they both strive to give their PERSONAL BEST?

In this hot sequel to Personal Best, Going For the Gold, Sean Michael returns us to the lives of Mike and Jessy, and their relentless pursuit of Olympic gold.

As always with Sean Michael’s work, we get a feeling for the characters that goes right down to our toes. We can feel Mike’s determination to win, and Jessy’s resolve to keep him from hurting himself in the process. Our bodies ache right along with Mike when he’s injured, and ache in another way when he and Jessy get busy between the sheets. Mike and Jessy’s love for each other is evident in the masterful sex scenes as delivered by Sean Michael.

PERSONAL BEST is a wonderfully written sequel to the first book. It pulls the reader in and doesn’t let go until the satisfying conclusion, and yet still leaves the reader wanting more of Mike and Jessy.

Jacket around his shoulders, Mike turned up his music, Trent Reznor screaming in his headphones. He kept his eyes closed, lost himself in his music, in the beat and in the growl of the guitars.

Nothing mattered right now.

Not the meet.

Not the crowd.

Not the heat or the water or the competition.

It was just him and music and being loose, being ready, being relaxed, just like Coach had taught him. Breathing and music, and that's it.

Large, warm hands landed on his shoulders, massaging.

Mike leaned his head forward. Four races this morning, and his times were good. Better than good, maybe. Better enough that people were starting to notice, starting to talk.
