Going home is never easy, especially if you’ve been away as long as Aren
has. His grandparents' house welcomes him back with its solid presence, but
he's still lonely. Things get a little easier when he meets up with his
childhood friend Corvin. Friendship quickly turns to romance but there is
something that Corvin isn’t telling Aren. Could that come between them?

Aren stretched and pushed himself slowly to his feet. He had a lot to do
and sleeping in was not on the list. Aren still had his car to deal
with. On top of that, he needed to get the power turned on and get some
furniture. He peeked out one of the large windows facing the road and
was very surprised to see his car parked in front of the house.
Okay, how did that get there? Aren remembered his car dying halfway
between the house and the main road. Why else would he have walked home
through the woods and run into that dog? Unless, of course, he dreamed
the whole thing, which was possible, too. Wait, how did he get home
then? Aren raked the hair out of his eyes with a sigh. It was way too
early for Aren to be figuring things like that out. Besides, there were
more important things to ponder at the moment, like breakfast. Aren’s
stomach growled in agreement. Yeah, before anything else, Aren needed to
find something to eat.
Aren sighed. He would have to go back into town for breakfast. There was
no way around it. Aren did not want to start the day on an empty
stomach.
An odd sound echoed from the kitchen. It sounded like someone was
rummaging through the cabinets. That distracted Aren from what ever else
he was thinking about. There shouldn’t have been anyone else in the
house. Unless, of course, someone broke in while he was asleep. Wait, he
was in the middle of nowhere, why would anyone break in here of all
places? It would make more sense if it was a raccoon or something. It
probably got in when he was bringing his boxes in. So it was either a
burglar or a raccoon. Neither option made Aren feel any better.
Aren crept closer and peeked in cautiously, just in case there was
something bigger than a raccoon in there. His eyes widened in surprise.
There was a hot guy in his kitchen, a really hot guy.
Who ever he was, the guy was tall and sexy with long jet black hair that
hung over a broad set of shoulders and straggled into a handsome,
fine-boned face. Aren couldn’t help but stare. Especially with those
long legs and lean muscular body all wrapped in slightly worn and very
snug jeans and a tight black T-shirt.
*Where did he come from? Did I bring him home last night and forget
about it?* Yeah, that would happen. It had been nearly a year since
Aren’s last date and who knows how long it had been since he had slept
with anyone. Besides, meeting someone like that would have definitely
stuck in Aren’s memory, even if he didn’t remember how he got home. The
only other option was that the guy had broken into the house and Aren
wasn’t to sure what to do about that.
The only thing Aren could think of was to confront Mr. Tall, dark and
potentially dangerous. What else could he do? Aren took a deep breath
and stepped into the kitchen. He tried his best to look imposing which
probably wouldn’t work considering that the guy was taller that he was
and had more muscle to boot. “Okay, who are you and what are you doing
in my granpare--my house?”
“Looking for you, actually.”
“Do you always break into places when you’re looking for people?”
“I didn’t break in anywhere. I have a key.” The guy smiled brightly at
him. “It’s been a long time, Aren.”
