When Fisher's usually rational lover James decides there are ghosts in the attic, Fisher accepts that even the perfect man can have a quirk or two. But as Halloween gets closer, things get weirder, until James is missing and Fisher is left in the dark. Can Fisher deal with what's lurking around the corner?

As it turned out, James wouldn’t actually go up in the attic the next morning. Fisher hadn’t expected him to, after the weird behavior from the previous day. He had to be content with James standing on the bottom step and yelling questions.
“Well? What do you see? Anything? Fisher! Is there anything?”
Fisher rolled his eyes. “James, God. There’s nothing up here.” The attic was less threatening during the day, especially with the weak light that filtered through the lone window in the corner.
“Nothing but ghosts,” James muttered, loud enough for Fisher to hear.
The door shut with a bang when Fisher came back down the stairs. “Tell your ghosts to keep it down tonight. I’m tired. How’s that tuna sandwich coming along?” He grinned and looked pointedly toward the kitchen.
“Done. I packed the cooler for you and put in some of the fresh garlic butter for your bread. Oh, and a few cubes of the smoked cheddar cheese.” James nodded and headed for the front door where his briefcase and umbrella waited.
“Wow, thanks,” Fisher laughed. “You might earn yourself another blowjob tonight.”
“No ‘might’ about it.” James winked at him. “It’s my early gift to you. Speaking of, maybe think about what you want to do for your birthday this year.”
“Pass out candy, just like always.” Having a birthday on Halloween had been fun when he was younger, but now that he was an adult, it tended to be a drag. A lot of Fisher’s and James’ friends had young children, so they stayed home doing the trick-or-treat thing. Any birthday celebrating usually happened the night before or the night after.
“I mean the next night.” James rolled his eyes and blew Fisher a kiss before closing the front door behind him. |
