When Kaz joined his Pride buddies to work the new
community garden, he didn't count on sharing his plot with a foul-mouthed
stranger. Devin's got a history and the scars to prove it. It doesn't help
that Kaz nearly ran him over in the parking lot. Factor in some expensive
truck repairs and a determined raccoon, and Kaz has had enough before he's
even gotten started. Gardens are nice, but some of them take an awful lot of
manure…

"Dev G joined Pride," Chuck texted him that
afternoon.
Kaz was midway through a shrug when that statement fully registered. "Whaaaat?"
"What what?" Tyler had been in the next cubicle for five years; he was
used to Kaz.
"The kid's gay!" Kaz said with outrage.
Tyler looked over his wire rims. "You may be in a minority group,
Walkowski, but even you must have realized you were not alone in the
universe. Why shouldn't the kid be gay?"
"Shut up. I thought I had dumped this kid, and instead I'm going to see
him every week!"
"So now you're dating juveniles?"
"Oh, ha ha. He's twenty-three, and we are not dating. He's joined my
Pride group." Kaz brought up the link to the membership directory. There
it was in black and white pixels, complete with photo. Who knew the kid
could smile normally?
Insult to injury, Devin had joined the decorating committee that worked
on the big parade float. The committee that Kaz chaired. The committee
that was already as full as he could manage of wannabe designers. Damn
it!
Tyler was leaning over the cubicle wall. "Not bad. Why aren't you dating
him?"
"I didn't even know he was gay!"
"Well, now you do. Get on it. You're acting like a guy who needs to get
laid."
That stung. Maybe Kaz had been a little bitchy lately, but... "I am not
going to date this guy! He dented my truck!"
"I believe it, with shoulders like that. What did you do to piss him
off?"
Kaz hunched. "Nearly ran him over."
The look on Tyler's face became very, very patient. "Kaz. I may be on
the wrong side of the sexual fence, but I think some things are
universal. You'll get a much better reaction if you invite him to go for
a ride instead of running him over. Trust me." |
