Colton Mitchell thinks this July 4th will be just like
any other until he finds out his part time lover is returning to Texas from
New York City for a visit. After years of being left behind by Stoney, can
Colton work up the courage to finally tell him about the feelings he's been
hiding for years? Or will it all backfire on him? Sometimes taking a risk on
love can bring the greatest reward of all.

Brooks punches me hard in the arm. "Dude, why are you freaking out? You
two get together and... do whatever it is that two dudes do. This is
nothing new."
"How about you keep your voice down," I hiss, peering around the corner
to make sure my grandmother is still resting comfortably in her chair in
the living room. "And I'm freaking out because he never comes home for
Fourth of July. Why now?"
"I don't know." He shrugs and grabs another deviled egg. "Maybe he just
misses home."
I scoff and pinch the bridge of my nose between my thumb and forefinger,
trying to fight off the oncoming headache.
"Stoney doesn't miss anything about this place," I mutter.
That's the biggest understatement ever. He left as soon as he graduated
high school, ran off to New York City and never looked back. Now every
time he comes home, he spends the majority of his time complaining.
That's why he only comes home for Christmas and New Year's Eve. He's
never been back during the summer.
Usually, I'm pleased to see him, more than anyone could imagine. When he
comes home, it's the only part of the year I actually feel alive because
I know after we've been to all of the appropriate parties and he's
spoken to all of the appropriate people, we'll end up back at my place,
wrapped around one another until sunrise. But this... this is different.
His unexpected visit has me worried instead of happy. |
