Drey Banerjee, head nurse on the cardiac floor at City Hospital, loves his job. He loves it even more when heart doctor Brady MacDonald joins the team. Brady is cute, good at his job, and also gay. Soon the two are flirting like crazy and Drey's showing Brady the ropes, the local diner, his bedroom…

Brady's got rules, though, about not dating his co-workers. Not to mention the hospital frowns on fraternization between employees who work the same floor. Where does that leave Drey and Brady when innocent flirting begins leading to much, much more? With a cast of secondary characters egging Drey and Brady on, Heart Doctor is a heartwarming and delightful tale of falling in love.

Meg Leigh, author of Hunter's Dawn: Laying the Ghosts, writes:

Drey Banerjee is head nurse in the cardiology department and loves his role and the people he works with. His life is a little lonely but he's happy. Then Drey meets handsome new doctor Brady MacDonald and the attraction between them is instantaneous and sharp.

Relationships between staff members who work the same floor are frowned upon at City Hospital but the chemistry between the two is irresistible prompting both Brady and Drey to throw caution to the wind and date each other. As the attraction deepens into something more serious, Drey and Brady must face the challenges of their work situation head on.

I enjoyed this story and these characters a lot. The attraction and chemistry between the guys works really well and the descriptions of the food Drey cooked had me wishing I could get an invite to supper. The sex sizzles on the page making this book a must for those who like a quick, sexy read with believable characters and an interesting setting.

Drey hummed as he powered through the charts, making sure he knew what was going on with all of the patients on the floor. He liked working in cardiology. The department took up two floors, but all the patients were on the seventh; doctors' offices occupied the eighth floor. Rounds didn't start until nine a.m. either, so unless there was an emergency, Drey had time to catch up with all the charts, and check in on the patients as well, before the doctors even showed up.

It had been a quiet night and this morning's handover had gone smoothly, quickly. Putting the charts back on the desk, Drey grabbed his keys and headed for the meds cabinet. Oh, it had been a quiet night; the morning meds were already sorted, sitting in marked cups for each patient. Cool. Humming again, Drey wheeled out the cart, locked the door behind him, and began to visit his patients.

"Oh, here he is," a familiar voice said behind him as Drey started down the corridor. "Drey Banerjee, one of our head nurses. Can I have a word before you get going, Drey?"

Dr. Hunter stood there with a clipboard in hand, his gray hair neatly combed as ever. Next to him was another doctor, one Drey hadn't met before. He looked to be in his mid-thirties, but he, too, had a tiny bit of gray in his dark hair. Not bad looking at all.

"Sure, Dr. Hunter." Drey smiled at the new guy and then focused back on Hunter. "What can I do for you?"

"This is Dr. Brady MacDonald, the newest cardiologist on staff. He'll be taking over some of the cases already on the ward, so I wanted to get him around to meet most of the nurses this week; we know who really runs this place." Dr. Hunter winked at Drey and stepped back to let the new doctor offer his hand.

Dr. MacDonald had a nice firm handshake, and he met Drey's gaze with a friendly smile. "Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you, Doctor." Drey went for a subtle once-over, checking the new guy out. Not bad. Not bad at all. At least what he could see through the open lab coat.

"Do you mind if we follow you around for a few minutes? I'd like to meet some of my patients." He held out his own clipboard. "Any of these people on your current round?"

Drey glanced at the clipboard and nodded. He appreciated a doctor who wanted to get to know his patients. "The first two I've got meds for are. Follow me."

"I'll catch up with you," Dr. Hunter said, already backing away. "I need to have a quick look at Mrs. Wetherly in 7047."

Dr. MacDonald nodded and then got his pen out of his pocket. "Lead on, Nurse Banerjee. I'll try to stay out of your way." He had a nice smile, a little crooked.

"You can call me Drey, everyone does."

"Brady." The smile grew wider. "Not everyone does. So, who's up first?"

"Mrs. Wallace. She's a sweet old lady. Triple bypass."

Drey knocked and then went in. "Good morning, Edna. Look what I brought you today -- a new doctor to play with." He gave the old lady a smile as he put his tray down and went over to open the curtains, letting in the morning sunshine.

"Hello, Mrs. Wallace." Brady transferred the smile to the elderly woman and pulled the visitor chair up to the side of the bed. "How are you feeling this morning? My name is Brady MacDonald, and I'll be assisting on your case. Did you have a good night?" He didn't even pick up her chart from the end of the bed, just started talking to her.

Very nice. Drey had to admit he was impressed. City Hospital had more than its share of good doctors, but he often found that the higher up the food chain you went, the more likely you were to run into the ones with God complexes.

Hunter was a good egg, though, and Drey was pleased to see that Brady was maybe cut from the same cloth. Hell, anything would be better than Cooper and Strazinsky. They both thought they were God.

Working unobtrusively, he checked Edna's drip, BP, and temp while she chatted with Doc Brady.

"Well," Brady said as he stood up and shook her hand again, "I'm glad you're sleeping okay. It can't be easy, with your chest aching like that." He did pick up her chart then, glancing through it and then writing a short note. "The good news is that, if we can get your pain managed with over the counter pain killers, we'll be able to let you go home really soon. I bet you'll sleep even better in your own bed." He smiled at her again and glanced at Drey. "I think I'll stop talking away and let you give Mrs. Wallace her pills now."

Drey chuckled and grabbed the pill pot from his tray, double-checking to make sure he had the right cup.
