Jenner, Grey and Lysander are back, trying to make things work between the three of them as well as they can't. It's not an easy task with one of them a universally loved singer, another a Duke, and the third from a far away culture with traditions that are far different from the other two. Lucky for them they love each other as much as they do.

Things seem to be going well, or at least they do until Jenner's family starts interfering. Everyone from his father, to his uncle the King have plans for him, and none of them include settling down and living a quiet, happy life with his lovers.

Will Jenner be able to balance fulfilling his familial duties with living the life he wants?

Review

Mychael Black, author of Unnecessary Evil, writes: All Jenner wants is to live a peaceful life with his lovers, Lysander and Grey. His family, on the other hand, has other ideas for him. Jenner is quickly caught in the middle of politics and everything else that goes with being a Duke, and it’s a sheer miracle he has any time left for his lovers. Now he just has to figure out how to make it all work.

H.B. Kurtzwilde takes us back to his world of intrigue, romance, and mixed cultures in Guide to Survival 2: The Legacy. In the middle of all the politics and usual craziness that seems to follow these men, there’s the ever-strengthening love between them.

I personally don’t know how Jenner does it -- the whole balancing act. I think anyone else would have gone crazy. But he manages to do it, and keep himself and his lovers sane.

If you enjoyed the first book, you’ll love this one!

Jenner was still out cold when Lysander turned up with breakfast, the real thing, and kisses. Jenner asked if he wanted anything else: handjob, blowjob, wild fuck? Lysander told him. “I want you to eat this and go back to sleep. That dragon can sit downstairs and wait. What have I missed?”

“Grey’s about halfway through basic ed. You’re the genius around here. What do you think?” Jenner put his food where it belonged while he waited for an answer.

“Well, he’s just following it along, isn’t he? Those lower levels shouldn’t have taken him long to do,” Lysander reasoned.

“Yeah, I guess that’s it.” Jenner stretched, finished off his juice and settled back. “Now listen, I’ll do whatever Grey needs, but if you tell me to stay in my warm, soft bed and forget about it for a while, that’s what I’m going to do.”

“Go to sleep, gallant duke. Don’t come up until you can talk sense again.”

Grey insisted on doing his end-terms on the ancient Earth source material Lysander had pumping ninety percent of his waking life. Outsys music, Grey called it. Lysander was more than happy to hang around and be Grey’s primary reference for the weeks that it took. It gave him the perfect opportunity to work on his little pet project.

Sooner or later, the old masters would be heard again. If it took Lysander fuckin’ Edvard screaming at the top of his lungs about it for the rest of his life, fine. He started shaking the trees for someone, anyone, who might be interested in the subject. Jenner tried to get a word in about his own musical tastes, but Lysander had absolutely defeated him. Grey passed fine arts and immediately replaced the classes with extra hours of math and sciences, as a kind of farewell “fuck you” to the humanities.

Jenner came in as they were choosing new classes. “I'm sorry. My parents are coming over.”

“Why?” Grey demanded. “You didn't do anything wrong. You've been right here with us.”

“Yeah, that's why,” Jenner said. “Pop talked Dad out of being mad at me.”

“Just like that?” Lysander laughed.

“Well, Pop's a Servitor,” Jenner huffed. “They're very well known as peacemakers.”

“Do you think he'd show me how to play with that toy you've got?” Grey asked.

“I'll show you myself,” Jenner said, taking it out of his pocket. “It just won't help to see.”

They huddled over the flat black square and waited for a long time. Jenner stared and stared at it. A thin, red circle appeared. Then, paler than the circle, two red lines appeared, crossed, and fit into the circle to divide it into quadrants. Jenner’s brow glistened with sweat, his breath came in quick bursts, and then he gasped. The light seemed to crumble in a flurry of golden sparks. They drew into a miniature vortex and winked out.

“That’s it?” Grey demanded, openly disappointed.

“I’d like to see you do it,” Jenner challenged. “I bet you anything you never will.”

Grey didn’t take the bet, but he certainly took a shot at proving Jenner wrong. Lysander took a turn, staring at the puzzle and waiting for the light. For all the good it did, the toy might have been no more than cracked plastic. Jenner made the light dance again, and this time the boys were more impressed.
