Dr. Derek Thomas has a pediatric practice at an affluent New York
Hospital that comes with all the perks -- the salary, the townhouse, the
car, and the handsome neurosurgeon boyfriend. When his relationship goes
south, so does Derek, but will he be happy with a simpler life working in a
Mexican clinic with a man from his past?

Juan
pulled himself up out of the pool, sitting on the edge, letting his legs
dangle in the water. Derek thought he was sexy in the moonlight. His body
was muscular and compact, dusted liberally with silky black hair, and his
cock no less impressive in its flaccid state. When he caught Derek staring
at him, he flashed another of his dazzling smiles, and the effect was
dramatic. For a moment, Derek couldn't think of a man more handsome than
Juan.
Derek's body reacted, his cock hardening despite the cool water. He swam to
Juan's end of the pool, resting his arms on the concrete, looking up at
Juan. "What happened to us, Juan? We were happy together, weren't we?"
Juan shrugged, and his smile grew wistful. "Who knows? We were young. We
wanted different things. It happens that way sometimes."
"I suppose." His own lips lifted in a wan smile. "Remember the nights we
used to lug our books down to the lake? We used to study by candlelight."
"When we took the time to study. I seem to remember spending much more time
doing things by candlelight that had nothing to do with studying. In fact, I
sometimes marvel at how we ever managed to graduate."
"Like you said, we were young. We didn't need to sleep."
They laughed, easy in each other's company in a way Derek realized he'd
never been with Peter. Peter had been too conscious of protocol, of what
other people might think. That's the real
difference between them,
Derek thought with a sudden
flash of insight. Not the clothes, or the house,
or the prestigious job. It's their set of values. Peter thinks life is
something to conquer, a never-ending battle for success; Juan thinks it's
something to be enjoyed.
In a fit of mischief,
Derek grabbed Juan's arm and pulled him into the pool. Juan tumbled in with
a splash, and came up with a grin that told Derek he was in trouble. Like
two boys in a swimming hole, they wrestled with one another in the water,
one dunking the other. Juan dove down and came up under Derek's rear end,
pushing him out of the water and tossing him. Derek dove and grabbed Juan's
leg, pulling him under.
But they weren't boys anymore. They were men who shared a history, and
touching each other so intimately, even while being playful, reminded them
both of the pleasures they used to find in each other's bodies. They
surfaced from a last dunking, mere inches away, and stared at each other,
breathing hard. |
