The Thatcher brothers, Jed, Ross, and Ken, are near and dear to my heart. They feature in my books, Jumping Into Things, Landing with Both Feet, and Taking the Leap. I hope y’all enjoy them as much as I do! I’ve put together a few recipes and a little fun list in their honor.

Best! J

Top Ten Things to Do With a Thatcher Brother

By Julia Talbot

10) Have a beer with them and shoot the shit
9) Make them cook for you. (tortillas stuck to the butt optional)
8) Let them train your dog
7) Yard work, baybee. Shirtless Thatchers mowing the lawn…
6) watch the football game/ play touch football
5) jump out of an airplane (Ross is you best bet here. Jed would rather fly the plane and Ken hates them)
4) make salsa and or chili
3) make them clean the gutters or wash the car (this is a toss up, as you could see them stretched up on a ladder *or* wet and soapy)
2) get them into a bar fight. What? These boys love to brawl (Dallas Coleman is responsible for this one, as that girl loves a good bar fight)
1) If you can’t think of the number one thing to do with a Thatcher is, you need to go back and read the books again!

Tank’s Green Salsa Recipe (Because Tank loves to get Ross to help him chop and stir and cry over onions …)

4 to 5 Serrano peppers – roasted, peeled and chopped
1 can tomatillos, drained and chopped (equals one cup of fresh, blanched and chopped)
1 cup chopped, prepared nopales
6 medium green onions, copped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp minced onion
Juice of one lime
1/2 tsp salt

Combine all ingredients in a medium sized bowl. Chill salsa, covered, for at least 30 minutes before serving. Keeps 3-4 days.

Jed’s Blueberry Pancake Recipe

2 eggs, lightly beaten

2 1/2 C. buttermilk

4 T. butter, melted

1 t. vanilla

2 C. flour

2 t. sugar

1 T. baking powder

1 t. baking soda

1 t. salt

2 C. blueberries

Preheat griddle. Melt butter and set aside to cool. In a small bowl, mix eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla.

In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients. Add egg mixture to dry ingredients. Add melted butter and mix just until blended. Do not over mix.

Using a large spoon or ladle, pour batter onto buttered griddle. Immediately sprinkle pancakes with blueberries. Flip once, when pancake begins to brown. Serve hot with maple syrup.

Today's Scavenger Hunt clue is for the author of Roses in December - I'd put your gardening gloves on, those thorns are prickly. ;-)
